Uber & Lyft Vehicle Inspections in Milton

Driving for Uber or Lyft in Ontario means your vehicle has to pass a safety inspection every year. Both platforms accept the same document: a Safety Standards Certificate issued by a garage licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.

We inspect rideshare vehicles at our Bronte Street shop in Milton. Call ahead and we will tell you when we can take you in.

What Uber and Lyft require

  • An annual vehicle inspection — once every twelve months
  • A Safety Standards Certificate from an MTO-licensed inspection station
  • The certificate uploaded to your driver account within 36 days of the inspection passing
  • A copy kept in the vehicle while you are driving

Don't leave it until the deadline

The 36-day window runs from the day your vehicle passes, not from the day you book. If something needs repair before the vehicle can pass, you want time to get that work done and still submit inside the window. Coming in early costs nothing; coming in late can cost you shifts.

What gets checked

A Safety Standards Certificate inspection is the same regardless of what you drive for. It covers brakes, tires, steering, suspension, lights, windshield and wipers, the exhaust system, fluid leaks, and the structural condition of the vehicle.
